REVISION 2 Approved 7.15.2024-REVISED 2024-2025 Calendar Board Revised 4.15.2024.pdf

Third graders at NWE recently took a deep dive into the fascinating life cycle and migration patterns of Monarch butterflies!  We watched as caterpillars transformed into chrysalises and then emerged as beautiful butterflies. To top it off, our students got hands-on by tagging the butterflies with stickers and recording their tracking numbers.

National Honor Society Clean Up Day

A few members of the Northwestern National Honor Society spent their Saturday morning cleaning up the streets of Albion.

It was a muggy, messy walk around town, but, even though it isn’t about being recognized for your efforts, having even just one member of the community stop to say “thank you” to the kids along the way made it all worth it.

Proud of these selfless young adults!

German II and III students organized an excursion to Cleveland on May 1 to visit the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and the Hofbräuhaus German Restaurant.  They were able to research the German music bands represented, practice playing some musical instruments and enjoy authentic German cuisine.  The weather was beautiful and made for a fantastic experience for all!

The Drama Club took a bite out of the Big Apple over Spring Break.  While in New York City, students went to the Top of the Rock, Museum of Broadway, 9/11 Memorial and Museum, Natural History Museum, The Met, Ellis Island and the Statue of Liberty.  They had time to explore Times Square, 5th Ave and Central Park, and got to see The Blue Man Group perform and the Broadway musical, Hadestown.  A great time was had by all.

AP Seminar at Gannon University
AP Seminar at Gannon University

Mr. Canfield's AP Seminar class gathered at Gannon's Nash Library last week with AP Seminar students from McDowell, General McLane, and Collegiate Academy.  Together, they analyzed course readings and had great conversations about topics for their upcoming arguments: formal papers (about seven pages long) that make up a significant part of their AP score.  Mr. Canfield thanks the Gannon University Library, our AP Seminar colleagues around the county, and our students for representing NW so well.

Springfield Elementary students enjoyed an amazing Saturday afternoon celebrating the holiday season! They decorated cookies, wrote letters to Santa, made ornaments, reindeer food and picture frames, enjoyed s’mores and sleigh rides outsides. They also were treated to a cocoa and popcorn bar!  It was so magical

Northwestern Elementary Life Skills class has enjoyed all things Christmas along with a fantastic community trip to Edinboro University, where students enjoyed interacting with the Women's Basketball team and then gathered with the middle & high school class to watch one of the games!
